Gamepedia Help Wiki:Admin noticeboard

From Gamepedia Help Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Resolved issues[edit source]

Dota 2 technical requests[edit source]

Please watch the Dota 2 Wiki technical requests page. There are several outstanding requests without administrative acknowledgement. --Kroocsiogsi (talk) 07:31, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

You need to contact the developers for support with this as we can only assist with wiki issues. This is the forum you need to check out for game help: http://steamcommunity.com/app/332500/discussions/2/ --Alianin TC 20:14, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Game crashes, won't work for me. 15 Hours of changing settings and testing it out.[edit source]

It took me 3 weeks to get the money to buy this game, only for it not to work. I've spent 15 hours editing and testing, only to get 0 improvement. I don't know if it's possible to get a refund, but if it is it would be amazing. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.81.193.207 (talk) at 2:47, 12 August 2015 (UTC). Hi there, Gamepedia!

I feel I have contributed a lot to The Escapists Wiki and feel that I could do mor with Sysop or Guardian, especially with the new release of The Escapists The Walking Dead. What are the requirements? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Sonico556 (talkcontribs) at 17:52, 16 October 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I passed your request on to Wagnike2 for action :), enjoy your new status! — Game widow (talk) 14:03, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

How do I change username or delete my account?[edit source]

I want to delete my account in gamepedia.com. At least can I change my username Murattiper?

Hello! If you submit an account deletion request at https://curse.zendesk.com I can take care of this for you! BriannaMCR (talk) 23:44, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

God-forsaken bot spam from the land of non-wikish stuff[edit source]

If you've seen Special:RecentChanges, you know what I mean >.> I would highly recommend banning the words "Number", "QuickBooks" or "Phone" from being in a title, because this is nonsense. -Xbony2, TriMaster (talk) 22:01, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Anti-credit suggestion of doom[edit source]

Not be a wikipoint-butt, but Psunny2912 and Johnkayak should have their wikipoints taken away, since both were spambots that were blocked about a month ago; the scores give them credit they in no way deserve. -Xbony2, TriMaster (talk) 00:34, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Same with Sonam123, Robertsoni and Kdavid0116 after looking further into it. -Xbony2, TriMaster (talk) 21:11, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
OK, done — Game widow (talk) 18:34, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Abise Filter is defective[edit source]

I cannot add interwiki link. Too many characters in Cyrillic. — Ivan-r ru.Wiki User 14:57, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

What are you trying to add to the interwiki and which wiki are you adding it on? --Alianin TC 15:37, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Another abuse filter problem[edit source]

I wanted to change the page Battle of Tol Barad to specify that in its current run, Summoning Stone does use its normal behaviour of using the actually paid cost, and thus creates 0-mana minions when a reduced-cost spell is played. However, the abuse filter thought that that was harmful and therefore disallowed, giving as its reason "New user adding link at end or in heading". This is incorrect for two reasons: First and foremost, I was not adding the link, I was only editing the text around the link, second, it was not at the end or in a heading, but in the middle of a normal paragraph. - 83.161.138.23 22:58, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Never mind, that was another wiki (I think). I wanted to delete my message, but I could not because deleting a section as a newbie is stopped by that same abuse filter. - 83.161.138.23 23:02, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

How do I change my email?[edit source]

So I linked my twitch having forgotten that it had my old email on it that I forgot my password to so I wanted to change my email to my new one but I can't figure out how, I even changed my twitch email but my gamepedia email is still the same. — ✪ SaiKo (talk) 20:18, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

If you haven't merged your account with your Twitch account, you can change it here: https://www.gamepedia.com/account If you have merged your account and you changed it on Twitch, you need to log out and back in and it should update. --Alianin TC 00:56, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
I've logged out and back in on both gamepedia and twitch and my email is still on my old one for gamepedia. — ✪ SaiKo (talk) 01:49, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

Current issues[edit source]

Oxygen Not Included Wiki[edit source]

Math expressions seem not to work. The math tags are displayed in the view. SchlauFuchs (talk) 23:40, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

The Math extension has to be installed, which I just did. Try it now. --Alianin TC 23:48, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
I now receive database errors when trying to submit a page (https://oxygennotincluded.gamepedia.com/Guide/Temperature_Management)
A database query error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software.
SchlauFuchs (talk) 23:59, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
That error should be fixed now, but math isn't rendering properly. I'll get with our developers in the morning to take a look at it. --Alianin TC 00:12, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
I think it rendering for black text on white background. I might try html syntax for now. SchlauFuchs (talk) 00:34, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
I fixed the styling so it's white now. The rest look to be syntax errors. --Alianin TC 01:43, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
Got Failed to parse (PNG conversion failed; check for correct installation of latex and dvipng (or dvips + gs + convert))
Where are you seeing that? --Alianin TC 14:42, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
Was trying out WTF is wrong with my formula, tried then <math>/alpha</math> as in first example of https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Displaying_a_formula#TeX_and_HTML SchlauFuchs (talk) 15:03, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
All I'm seeing on this page are syntax errors. Are you getting it somewhere else? --Alianin TC 18:20, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

How do I stop a template example from appearing in a Category? SchlauFuchs (talk) 11:45, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Usually wrapping the category in <includeonly></includeonly> works. --Alianin TC 18:20, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

Interwiki links[edit source]

I suggest setting the “local” parameters on all language section interwiki prefixes to 1. This would make linking to these sections easier, because otherwise links like gphelp:ru: end up with a “Bad title” error instead of linking to its intended target (Russian Gamepedia Help Wiki in this example). Thanks in advance! — NickTheRed37 (talk | ru.gphelp Admin | ru.minecraftwiki editor) 15:32, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Like that? -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 23:16, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
That? Yes. Thanks. — NickTheRed37 (talk | ru.gphelp Admin | ru.minecraftwiki editor) 07:13, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

creation[edit source]

Unable to submit an entry for Hellion wiki regarding loot zones implemented in version 0.2. both source and visual editor show me an error when i try to submit my text: "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Global AF - Large spam pages"

I can post a copy of the text, if necessary. --Dung30n (talk) 05:20, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Dung30n: try making one or two edits to other pages on your wiki, and you should be able to save it fine after that. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 14:54, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
  • edit* seems the citation links at the TOp of the page were the issue, moved them down into the text and it finally saved

Quest for Infamy Wiki[edit source]

A new link needs to be put on the main page. A link that goes to the achievements page. The page exists but there is no way to get to it unless directly searched for. Unfortunately, I am unable to add in this link since the main page is protected.

--Renodox (talk) 08:52, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

There *is* one, in the Gamepedia Resources section — Game widow (talk) 12:13, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry but I don't understand your response. I just need to know how I can edit the main page so it can link to the Achievements page as well. --Renodox (talk) 21:29, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
I think Renodox means on their own wiki, the Quest for Infamy Wiki. You should request wiki guardian, imo, which will allow for you to edit protected pages and many other things. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 13:06, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Ah, well then, you could claim the wiki, or ask the manager (Equazcion) to add it — Game widow (talk) 15:21, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Bugged CSS[edit source]

MediaWiki:Hydra.css is bugged. I tried to use the light Hydra skin from the preferences, but I saw that it is bugged. Dentedharp90041 (talk) 11:29, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

How is it bugged? it seems to work fine for me. Can you provide screenshots and let me know which browser you use? (also, you are loading common.css form minecraft, as well as common.js, that might conflict — Game widow (talk) 12:53, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
I always use the light skin and it looks fine to me. You've got a lot of stuff in your JS/CSS so I largely suspect that has something to do with it. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 13:15, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I will try to create my Gamepedia Help Wiki-only common.css and common.js. I never thought that my CSS and JS might be affecting the MediaWiki:Hydra.css. Dentedharp90041 (talk) 15:03, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Here is a list of bugs that I have encountered: Dentedharp90041 (talk) 15:22, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

  1. The main content is light, but the header (not the Gamepedia bar) and footer is dark
  2. When a textbox with OOjs styles is focused, its height decreases
  3. When a textbox with OOjs styles is hovered, the text inside raises up
I think I fixed the latter two. The header being dark seems more like a style thing, similar to ftb:. But if you want to play around and make it light in your custom CSS, and it looks better if you do, I'll implement it (note that part of the logo is white). The footer (I assume you mean the one with the logo and social links and whatnot) is dark on all wikis. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 21:13, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing some of the bugs! I will simply fix the first bug to my custom CSS. Dentedharp90041 (talk) 06:28, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
I fixed it in my own hydra.css. You may copy the code into MediaWiki:Hydra.css :) Dentedharp90041 (talk) 12:56, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
I don't want to be a hater but the inverted book logo doesn't work. It pretty much needs to be the same as Gamepedia's actual logo. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 21:02, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
It works for me. (source) – Dentedharp90041tce 10:43, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
It looks like that for me, yep. But if we were to change it though, the logo would have to be the exact same, not a deviation. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 12:02, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
Well, it could be highlighted with black if that's possible, but it has to look the same, with the orange cover, white pages, black flame, etc. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 12:06, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
I just realized that the logo is still visible without changing anything to the logo. – Dentedharp90041tce 12:31, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
I updated my hydra.css to add a gradient background behind the logo so it would be more visible. – Dentedharp90041tce 12:36, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
I modified it slightly to increase compatibility. IMO it looks a bit strange, I'd like to ask Game widow for her opinion before implementing it. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 21:41, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Side advertisement at a small screen resolution[edit source]

Hi, I have a screen of 1366x768 and for this, all the tables are narrowed.

https://prnt.sc/hgv1fr - 1366x768 with ads, the table looks crooked

https://prnt.sc/hguvv0 - 1349 no advertisement, the table looks good

You can make side ads appear only if the screen is larger than 1600. - Barknar (talk) 15:53, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Curious - you are PRO so you shouldn't be seeing ads. Or are you just reporting for another user/testing? --Pcj (T·C) 16:00, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
I tested it without pro Barknar (talk) 16:26, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
