|Come join the official Gamepedia Slack channel. Request an invite at https://www.gamepedia.com/slackinvite|
As the wiki is not always the best place for an in-depth chat, there is a Slack workspace specifically for Gamepedia.
Many wiki administrators, wiki guardians, and Gamepedia staff frequent the channel and you are cordially invited to chat, discuss wiki issues, notify them of important developments and just generally make yourself at home and chat about Gamepedia.
What to do when you join[edit | edit source]
When you first join the Slack, there are two things we request that you do: update your profile to include your wiki(s) and join their channels if they have them. Adding your wiki to your profile makes it easier to remember who you are, and can provide people with context if you need help and forget to mention where.
Joining channels[edit | edit source]
The Slack service hosts channels for many of Gamepedia's wikis as well as channels for specific topics such as automation or css. You can browse through the channels by clicking on "Channels" above your list of channels on the left (on mobile, tap the Gamepedia logo in the top left first). If the channel does not exist, you can create it, but if it's for a wiki, make sure to invite the manager.
Useful info[edit | edit source]
- Most users idle in the channel. There is absolutely no requirement to be chatty or even respond to comments.
- If you have a question, just ask it. If you don't get an answer straight away, you're probably not being ignored - other people may just be busy or not have anything useful to offer on the subject.
