Graphviz[edit source]

Hi,

I'd like to use the Mediawiki GraphViz Extension (www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:GraphViz) in the Wiki oxygennotincluded.gamepedia.com - would it be possible to install it? Oh, and also I was not allowed to ```adding link at end or in heading``` Cheers, SchlauFuchs (talk) 03:26, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Adding the link was probably not allowed because you have not edited this particular wiki before. As for the extension, I don't think it is not among those we currently allow (at least not explicitly), so all i can do is submit a request to have it vetted (which i will do right now). If it passes that phase, then i can install it for you. I'll be in touch — Game widow (talk) 14:25, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

stuff[edit source]

Hi, can you please add the RandomSelection and DynamicPageList extensions from the Extensions#Optional_Allowed_Extensions to our wiki pillarsofeternity Wiki. --AnotherArk (talk) 22:44, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

The manager of that wiki is VaultAusir, i've passed along your request. — Game widow (talk) 00:11, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
I am familiar with VaultAusir, I'll keep in mind that he can help with such matter as well. I got you because you made the "mistake" of advertising on your user page that you are a stuff member ;) --AnotherArk (talk) 00:52, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you, my name is Camber. I have been working on adding material cost for the weapons on the Life is Feudal wiki page, and I keep thinking about the way the info box's are displayed. I want to discuss them with somebody, before trying to just change them. What is the best way to go about coming to a concusses with who ever it needs to be talked out with? Basically my issue is with the Equipment having a "cost" when it's not really a cost it's more "skill" needed. But there are currently 800+ pages linked, which would all need " fixed" if cost was changed to skill. (I have no problem doing it) Also was wondering if you guys needed any more help, other than just general editing. Thank you for taking the time to read my little question.Camberme (talk) 18:00, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

It's no bother at all, i left a more complete answer on your talk pageGame widow (talk) 20:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Hello, Camber here again. talking about the Life is Feudal Wiki page, is there a way to lock it down, so all the random ip address people (probally just one person can't make pages, but only registered users. I think we have enough pages :) Camberme (talk) 01:13, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
It's not usually our policy, but the spam problem is really getting out of hand. First, i'll try a stricter abuse filter. — Game widow (talk) 13:50, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Can't log in[edit source]

I am having trouble logging in. However, the same password works when I actually use Curse.71.35.109.25 01:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Have you tried clearing the Gamepedia cookies from your browser ? Also, we recently moved to https for the login protocol, is it possible you are trying to login with just http ? — Game widow (talk) 11:33, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I am using https. As for clearing the cookies, I do not know how to do this without clearing all the memoy.71.35.109.25 14:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Due to that move of login protocol to https://, sometimes I get a infinite redirect cycle back and forth between http:// and https:// (only tested on mobiles). P. S. I’ve asked for a captcha to do this edit, even if I’m autoconfirmed — NickTheRed37 (talk) 14:57, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Apparently there's an issue being caused if your IP address changes while logged in that then prevents it from recognizing your password. That's being worked on now. In terms of the infinite re-direct, how often and when are you seeing that? The dev team says there was a short window when something was causing that but it was fixed pretty quickly. CrsBenjamin 15:47, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
As far as I tested, on my smartphone I get that when being logged in at (including, but not limited to) https://terraria-ru.gamepedia.com/ and recently https://ftb.gamepedia.com/, while on my tablet I get that on all wikis I was logged in. It was happening every time. It only happens with the mobile version. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 16:33, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I’m again not able to log in due to the password issue (on FTB Wiki). — 109.188.121.142 (NickTheRed37) 16:44, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
And I am now able to log in again. --NickTheRed37 (talk) 16:48, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I still isn't working for me.67.160.25.176 22:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
A potential fix was just rolled out, so let me know — Game widow (talk) 23:44, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Nope, it still doesn't work.71.35.109.25 01:23, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Try visiting Special:UserLogin by copypasting https://help.gamepedia.com/Special:UserLogin to the address entry. --NickTheRed37 (talk) 14:25, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean.71.35.109.25 14:38, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

I mean what I mean, specifically, that you should log in not by the Sign in tab. That is done by changing the page name (it goes after after https://help.gamepedia.com/) in the address entry to Special:UserLogin. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:55, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

It didn't work.67.160.25.176 22:16, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
The platform team is looking into it — Game widow (talk) 23:49, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
I still can't log in.75.165.42.19 13:22, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I’ve thought of a different problem. As for me, it seems that it no longer happens. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 13:55, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
All our tests have come back with the same result: if you cannot login, you must clear your cookies from your browser and probably also your cache. If you don't know how, read thisGame widow (talk) 14:22, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I cleared my browser cookies, but I still couldn't log in.75.165.42.19 14:51, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Is it possible to delete an account? If so, I could recreate it.75.165.42.19 15:59, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
That seems rather extreme, and likely not even possible (though i'll check). What browser do you use, and what is your Gamepedia username? — Game widow (talk) 16:02, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I use Safari and my username is Contrapple.75.165.42.19 16:07, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
OK, given that this is sunday (and coincidentally my partner's birthday) nothing will be done today, but i promise to tackle this with renewed fervour starting tomorrow. Sound fair ? — Game widow (talk) 16:09, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

I just stumbled on the following advice. Have you tried this:
Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop menu in menu bar: check
Develop menu > Empty Caches. ? — Game widow (talk) 16:41, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't find "preferences" in the safari section of settings.75.165.42.19 20:16, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
What was the problem that may have happened?71.212.10.80 01:20, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Preferences anywhere in the Safari interface should do, if you can't find those, i don't think anyone can help you — Game widow (talk) 21:46, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't know where I would find that. Can you tell me where?
Also, have you checked if it is possible to delete an account?75.165.42.19 23:00, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

How to find preferences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9-eIhjol1Q - Smokie (talk) 21:11, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
I use safari on an iOS device, so that video didn't help me. Is there something that might help me in this case?75.165.42.19 14:23, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
I managed to clear the cache, but I still can't log in.71.212.10.80 01:20, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
It turns out that the email I used to create my account is fake. I think there should be a feature where if the target account does not have a confirmed email address, it happens automatically. If the target does have a confirmed email, the confirmation process occurring can be set in your preferences and defaults to on. This way, I can delete my account even though I can't check my email.67.160.25.176 22:34, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
We don't want to discourage potential contributors who value their privacy and use fake addresses, so that's not likely to stop. However, you can't have it both ways. You can't expect to not play the game and then get all the help. Register with a real address and benefit from the added level of user support or take the associated risks with fake addresses. — Game widow (talk) 00:48, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
The thing is I don't have a real email. Users that use fake addresses should have the right to do these things, even if they don't have the cancel option, Alternatively, the notification can be sent directly to the IP address that was used to submit your request (would show in Curse.com).75.165.42.19 00:59, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
For security, the email could be used as a backup password, as no one else would know what you provided.75.165.42.19 13:06, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Another thing I thought of is that most of the time, it works as it does now. The exception is if there are major changes to the login system (the changes would be automated).71.212.10.80 01:20, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Ru translation[edit source]

Hello, can I translate some articles into Russian? I will follow Translation guidelines for it and create pages in /ru subpages. Alex Great (talk) 08:06, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Translation of the wiki "Path of exile" in french[edit source]

Hi, i already read the help pages for the translation and I would like effectively translate the page "Path of Exile" in french, what can I do because we are asked to contact you ? Thanks ! --CaptainLOL999 (talk) 15:36, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

We actually did previously have a french version of Path of Exile wiki and it languished. I can put you in touch with the bureaucrat to discuss possibly reviving it. — Game widow (talk) 15:47, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi, yes i would very much work on that project because it can't be found on the french Gamepedia and the french community can't enjoy, thanks ! --CaptainLOL999 (talk) 16:14, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Here you go. The main page needs to be translated first, the rest of the content that is there should already be in french, but might not be. — Game widow (talk) 21:01, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi, thanks, I'm working on it here and now. Are you ,however, able to check my translation sometimes in order to tell me if all is good ? Thanks ! --CaptainLOL999 (talk) 13:36, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
I don't see any edits from you on the French wiki. Are you sure you are on the correct url? ( https://pathofexile-fr.gamepedia.com ) — Game widow (talk) 14:04, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I was editing when you wrote this message, but there is actually a problem with the pictures included in the Skills menu. --CaptainLOL999 (talk) 14:50, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
As it's the weekend, we won't get much fixed right away, but i will bring the issue to the attention of the platform team, first thing on monday morning — Game widow (talk) 17:48, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
I figured out the problem with the images: because the french wiki was restored from an old version, all the image links still pointed to local copies of the images which had not been restored. The french and english wikis now share a common image store, with the english wiki as master. When i removed the old pages that pointed to the missing french copies, this allowed the calls to use the versions on the english wiki and resolved the issue. Basically, any image on the english wiki can be used on both wikis, but images uploaded to the french wiki can only be used on the french wiki. — Game widow (talk) 11:04, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi, yes thanks you did fast but I encounter some obstacle for exemple the table included in Life page, what can I do because I try to copy from the original wikicode and translate directly in the french wikicode (we have in the french version a visual editor so we're generally less talented than you for code) but the table refers directly to a model base. Thanks and sorry for this disturbance. --CaptainLOL999 (talk) 20:35, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
I did ask Iamacyborg to help you out directly. The table i think you are referring to depends on the individual skill pages (like Axe Damage and Life using the passive infobox. I did a quick test on Dextérité (compétence passive) and used the table on Dextérité and you can see that it works. So for French pages, you must explicitly add the "icon" field. Please follow up with Iamacyborg. He knows that wiki best — Game widow (talk) 10:28, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

French translation[edit source]

Hi, first of all I am not sure im doing this the right so I am really sorry if this is not it. Im contacting you because I would like to work on a french translation project for the Life Is Feudal wiki. Could you help me start it plese ? I know about the wiki codes and stuff, but im not really at ease with the start of the projet and I'll need some advices.

Thank you very much. You can contact me on steam, my nickname is : Darial (Fab)

EDIT : is this enough ? https://help.gamepedia.com/Translation_guidelines if I follow this procedure It'll be ok and I wont have to bother you ? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Dariounet (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

For now, follow that. Once there's enough translated (particularly the main page, which it appears you've done), a https://lifeisfeudal-fr.gamepedia.com/ wiki can be created :) -Xbony2, TriMaster (talk) 11:20, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Yes, the main page is done and there's more (done by peoeple before me, but still incomplete). What is the next step ? should I contact someone in particular to have the -fr or just wait ? thank you ! Dariounet (talk) 11:33, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
I will ask that one be created — Game widow (talk) 12:54, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
The wiki is up, but i am waiting on a fix to bring over the pages you have already translated. Who will be the main admin(s)? — Game widow (talk) 15:48, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Promotion request - Heroes of the Storm[edit source]

Hey, The Wiki Admins in the Heroes of the Storm Wiki and the Guardian barely edits or enter in the Wiki leaving lot of work to do; like deleting pages (there are lots of articles and images that need delete), ban spammers. I am requesting to be promoted to Guardian of the Wiki. --Senescalzin Talk with me! 17:27, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Question of translation[edit source]

Or authors of translation get sysop and bureaucrat groups on subdomain for translate? Marcino2 (talk) 09:20, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

We don't typically hand out bureaucrat rights. For Minecraft wikis, the policy is complicated. — Game widow (talk) 12:30, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Disseminating wiki[edit source]

What I can do to advertisement/disseminating wiki to be more users registered on that? Marcino2 (talk) 13:13, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Generally posting on game-related forums (and in particular to any language-specific ones, Polish iirc, for you?) and reddit — Game widow (talk) 14:30, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Polish Translation[edit source]

I was completed translation of main page and sections, all steps following Translation guidelines with adding /pl at end of page name, so can you create a polish domain of this wiki? --Marcino2 (talk) 22:13, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Sure! It will take a day to get it sorted as the workday here is over, but i will let you know — Game widow (talk) 22:26, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
The wiki is up, you can find it hereGame widow (talk) 20:41, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

RU Translation Astroneer[edit source]

Can I continue translating pages on Astroneer Wiki? I already translated general Astroneer Wiki page to RU lang. And whether you have RU translation your subdomain? (Astroneer Wiki admin's haven't a talk page, so I write here) Google61 (talk) 19:28, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Sure! that would be great. If you could start translating some of the pages linked from the main page, we can start on the wiki — Game widow (talk) 20:18, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Hordes.io Wiki[edit source]

I would love to take some lead rights at Hordes.io Wiki. As a portfolio, CityVille Wiki is mostly my work (I know it's not part of Gamepedia), including great design and templates. - Mihc3 (talk) 09:45, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Spanish Traslation[edit source]

Hello, can I translate some articles into Spanish? I will follow Translation guidelines for it and create pages in /es subpages

That's a great start. In general, we ask that you being with the main page. Once that is done, i will get a full Help wiki set up in Spanish — Game widow (talk) 11:42, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
With 11 translations is going well? Or do i do more? Category:ES_translation In some I have not put "/es" because I have changed the full name. Matahombres (talk) 09:08, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
That's good, i will spin up the wiki and move your pages over — Game widow (talk) 12:03, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
All set. From now on, you should add directly to the Spanish help wiki and you no longer need to put the /es or put things in the ES translation catetory — Game widow (talk) 14:19, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

About a Bug of Achievements System in Chinese Minecraft Wiki[edit source]

There is a bug in the achievement system in Chinese Minecraft Wiki.
Achievements Screenshot.jpg All achievements are duplicate.
A few months ago, we translated all of the achievements in Chinese Minecraft Wiki. But after this update, we lost all of these translations. Now we are planning to re translate these achievements, will these translations lose again after the next update of achievement system? Thanks!SteveZihang (talk) 05:29, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

This is being looked at but i cannot give you an exact timeline — Game widow (talk) 22:44, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Users on Chinese Minecraft Wiki Lost a Lot of Wikipoints and Gamepedia Points[edit source]

Before this update, there were many users have high wikipoints and Gamepedia points on Chinese Minecraft Wiki. But after this update, we almost lost all of our wikipoints and Gamepedia points. I think this is a bug. This bug also appeared on Chinese Gamepeida Help Wiki. But it doesn't appear on other wikis.SteveZihang (talk) 05:46, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Although wikipoint is just a kind of point, it can represent how much users contribute to the wiki. It can also let users have power to edit, so I think wikipoints are meaningful. Please fix this bug. Thanks a lot! SteveZihang (talk) 06:03, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
We have made some major changes in the back-end handling of wiki points and the system is still retotalling. We expect your wiki points total to rebound shortly, so if you could just bear with us a bit longer, things should look more normal soon. — Game widow (talk) 17:46, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Got it. Will the bug above be fixed? Thx. SteveZihang (talk) 22:00, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
I found that our Gamepedia points were much more than before the update.SteveZihang (talk) 12:30, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Do you mean they were more before and now they are less, or that the new total is greater than you expected ? — Game widow (talk) 15:29, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
The new total is greater than I expected.SteveZihang (talk) 05:26, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
That's good news then, is it not? ;) — Game widow (talk) 13:59, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
Perhaps not. I prefer the wikipoints I had previously owned. :)SteveZihang (talk) 14:26, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

A Suggestion[edit source]

People who have "check user" right can get users' IPs. I'm afraid some check users will misuse their rights. Maybe they will get users's IPs and divulge them. That would be unthinkable. There should be at least one local user to supervise the usage of "check user" right on each of Gamepedia wikis.SteveZihang (talk) 08:03, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

We don't give out that particular right, so don't worry — Game widow (talk) 12:12, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
I can't undestand. You mean local users who have check user right can't check user?SteveZihang (talk) 12:27, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Correct — Game widow (talk) 12:48, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Wikimedia projects have a special policy on check users: there must be at least two check users in a projects, if any. They also require the user to be at least 18 years old (or 16 in rare cases) and to submit some personal information to the Foundation. — NickTheRed37 (talk | ru.gphelp Admin | ru.minecraftwiki editor) 15:19, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
There's not currently a good enough reason to give checkuser to anyone; sockpuppetry hasn't been a major issue on Gamepedia as far as I know so I think Gamepedia staff can take care of that if that comes up. -Xbony2, WikiNerd (talk) 13:22, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

A Suggestion[edit source]

Extension:CodeEditor may be useful. It can help users check js/css syntax. Could you please deploy this extension on Gamepedia wikis?--SteveZihang (talk) 14:48, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Generally? no. For individual wikis who want it, they can request it — Game widow (talk) 15:44, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

2. The message boxes do not align with the center of the buttons;
