Clicking on the Preferences link in the upper right while logged in allows you to change your preferences. You will be presented with the User profile section, as well as a bar of tabs across the top for changing other types of settings.

Preferences marked with the small global ( ) are applicable across all wikis. Those without the globe icon can be changed on a per-wiki basis.

User profile[]

Basic information[]

  • Username: – Your username.
  • Member of groups: – This will list the user groups that you are a part of on the wiki.
  • Number of edits: – How many edits you have made. Not all wikis will have this.
  • Registration time: – The date that you registered.
  • Real name: – If provided, this will be used for attribution (rather than using your username). Providing your real name is entirely optional.
  • Real name is optional.

If provided, it may be used to give you attribution for your work. – Your email address, if you have supplied one. You can also change or remove your address here.

Public Profile[]

  • User Page Type – Whether you wish to use the Gamepedia (enhanced) profiles, or the old-style MediaWiki (standard) user pages.
  • Comment Page Type – Whether you wish to use the Gamepedia enhanced user comments, or the old-style MediaWiki (standard) user talk pages.
  • Favorite Wiki – Your favorite wiki (this will appear on your curse profile, if selected).
  • About Me – The text that will appear on your curse profile (if selected).
  • Avatar – Gamepedia uses Gravatar to display an avatar based on your email address. Visit gravatar.com to change your avatar. Please note that the avatar must be rated "G" or it will not appear.

Location[]

  • Location – Your location, which appears on your Gamepedia profile (if specified).

Other Profiles[]

These fields are entirely optional, but if you decide to fill them out, please provide direct links to your profiles or the username of your profile.

Internationalisation[]

You can select which language you would like the interface to be in. Only the buttons like 'Edit' and 'Discussion', in addition to a few pages in the sidebar, will be affected. The main text of the pages will not be changed by this for the vast majority of pages, although special pages will appear in that language as well.

  • Language: – The language you wish the wiki interface to appear in.
  • How do you prefer to be described?

Signature[]

  • Your existing signature: – Your signature as it currently appears when you use ~~~~. If this is blank, you have not created a signature.
  • New signature: – Use this field to customize your signature. The checkbox below – "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link to your user page)" should be used if you use wikitext as part of your signature.

Notifications[]

Depending on whether or not certain extensions are enabled on your wiki, this may be the second, or third tab.

Email options[]

  • Email: - Email address is optional, but is needed for password resets, should you forget your password. You can also choose to let others contact you by email through a link on your user or talk page. Your email address is not revealed when other users contact you. This email address is pulled from your Gamepedia or Twitch account.
  • Email confirmation: Your email address was confirmed on $2 at $3. (for example)
    • (checkbox to) Allow other users to email me (or not)
    • (checkbox to) Allow emails from brand-new users (or not)
    • (checkbox to) Send me copies of emails I send to other users (or not)
    • (checkbox to) Email me also for minor edits of pages and files (or not)

Choice of either "Individual notifications as they come in" or "Do not send me any email notifications"

Skin[]

Depending on your wiki, you will likely only see one skin listed here, Hydra or Hydradark. However, wikis can have more than one skin available. In the case where a wiki has more than one skin, both will be listed here.

  • Shared CSS/JSON/JavaScript for all skins: - While not a particularly informative title, this section allows you to choose to create a Custom CSS or Custom JavaScript page which will only affect your view of the wiki.

Date format[]

The following are the available options  :

Time offset[]

The time offset is used to display time and dates in your current timezone.

  • Server time: - Displays the time on the server on which the wiki resides
  • Local time: - Displays the time in the time zone you specify below
  • Time zone: - This is a drop-down list of all time zones from which you can select the most appropriate for yourself

Files[]

The following offer drop-down lists of options.

  • Image size limit on file description pages: (for file description pages)
  • Thumbnail size:
    • There is also a checkbox to enable Media Viewer if that extension is enabled on your wiki.

Diffs[]

This section deals with examining changes made to wiki pages. There are two or three check boxes, depending on installed extensions:

  • Do not show page content below diffs
  • Don't show diff after performing a rollback
  • Don't show the revision slider – This option is only available is the RevisionSlider extension is enabled on your wiki.

Advanced options[]

  • Link underlining: - Whether you wish links to be more visible being underlined, or using the default skins options.
  • ⧼stub-threshold⧽ - The default value is disabled, but users can select 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 or 10000 bytes as their preferred threshold.
  • There are also four check boxes for:
    • Show hidden categories
    • ⧼tog-numberheadings⧽
    • ⧼collapsiblevector-collapsiblenav-preference⧽
    • ⧼collapsiblevector-noexperiments-preference⧽

Math[]

These options only appear if the Math extension is enabled on your wiki. You can choose how mathematical formulas are rendered by clicking one of the two radio buttons:

  • LaTeX source (for text browsers)

Editing[]

These are the settings to control editing pages, including the size of the edit box displayed, and whether to automatically watch pages that you have edited or created. All options in this section are global ( ).

General options[]

  • Enable section editing by right clicking on section titles
  • Edit pages on double click
  • Do not show link suggest in Source mode

Editor[]

  • Edit area font style: - drop-down list which includes Mono-spaced font, Sans-serif font or Serif font
    • Mark all edits minor by default
    • Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary)
    • Warn me when I leave an edit page with unsaved changes
    • Enable the visual editor. It will be available in the following namespaces: $1
    • Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta
    • Enable the editing toolbar

Preview[]

  • Show preview when starting to edit
  • Show preview before edit box
  • Show preview without reloading the page

This option only appears if the Drafts extension is installed on your wiki.

Recent changes[]

Display options[]

  • Days to show in recent changes: Maximum $1 days - Here you can specify how far back the recent changes pages will go. Note that the list will stop prematurely if the number of edits is exceeded (see below).
  • Number of edits to show in recent changes, page histories, and in logs, by default: (Maximum number: 1000)

Advanced options[]

  • Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist Whether you want the recent changes to appear in a smaller view format and cause dropdowns for the same page edits, or actions.
  • Use non-JavaScript interface
  • Hide minor edits from recent changes - This enables you to hide edits marked as minor (see Editing pages). Since some users will rapidly make a lot of tiny tweaks to update templates or fix spelling errors you may find enabling this to be useful. You can also turn this on temporarily from the recent changes page (see Tracking changes).
  • Hide categorization of pages

Watchlist[]

These are the settings to control the behaviour of the watchlist (See Watchlist). Most of these options are also available on the watchlist display itself, but by setting them in your preferences, you control the default behaviour of the watchlist i.e., it will perform the same actions every time you visit the page.

Edit watchlist[]

  • Edit entries on your watchlist: View and remove titles on your watchlist | Edit raw watchlist | Clear your watchlist

Display options[]

  • Days to show in watchlist: (Maximum $1 days)
  • Maximum number of changes to show in watchlist: (Maximum number: 1000)

Advanced options[]

  • Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent
  • Add direct unwatch/watch markers (×/+) to watched pages with changes (JavaScript required for toggle functionality)
  • Use non-JavaScript interface

Changes shown[]

  • Hide minor edits from the watchlist
  • Hide bot edits from the watchlist
  • Hide my edits from the watchlist
  • Hide edits by anonymous users from the watchlist
  • Hide edits by logged in users from the watchlist
  • Hide categorization of pages

Watched pages[]

  • Add pages and files I edit to my watchlist
  • Add pages and files I move to my watchlist
  • Add pages I create and files I upload to my watchlist
  • Add new files I upload to my watchlist

Token[]

  • Watchlist token: - a 40-character alphanumeric string
    • This is the secret key to the web feed of your watchlist. Anyone who knows it will be able to read your watchlist, so do not share it. If you need to, you can reset it.

Misc[]

  • ⧼disable_social_prompts⧽ - Whether you want a popup to appear when you save a page or not.

Gadgets[]

If the Gadgets extension is enabled on your wiki, this section lists the available gadgets and allows you to opt in or out of them.
